Building your teachers’, trainers’ and assessors’ capability and currency is an ongoing process which requires careful planning and execution. 

Mentoring is a reciprocal and collaborative professional development approach which allows more experienced senior educators to guide and support their colleagues’ professional and career development, which benefits the mentee, the mentor and the training organisation.

This session will cover the benefits of mentoring others and how to gain organisational support for the practice so it becomes valued and embedded in business processes.

It will discuss critical issues including: 

• Workforce planning and development, including the attraction and retention of VET teachers, trainers and assessors

• How to move beyond one-off PD events undertaken simply for a ‘tick the compliance box’ approach, and into a truly holistic approach to professional development and lifelong learning

• Targeting and addressing pain points in training and assessment which are impacting student experience, student numbers, compliance requirements

• Embedding sustainable practice by building the ability of teachers, trainers and assessors to manage their own career development and PD capabilities
