Overarching notes

  • All values listed on the Skills Education website include GST

  • Ticket sales, registration and/or subscription fees are non-refundable and are not transferable

  • Group booking registration links and/or gifted registrations must be redeemed within 45 days of date of purchase. After that time the ticket/s will be deemed expired and considered as a ticket that was purchased but not used. It is the purchaser and their invitees' responsibility to redeem registrations within the active time period of 45 days

  • It is the registrant’s responsibility to monitor access times and/or membership subscription renewal dates

  • The Skills Education website is built on a platform that uses default (unchangeable by us) settings for the North American region. The date function on the site is set to mm/dd/yyyy - not dd/mm/yyyy as is used in Australia.

  • This is important when viewing the billing area of your account as all renewal / expiry dates are in the 'US format'. For example, you will see the 12th of March written as 3.12.24 not 12.3.24

  • We apologise for the confusion this may cause and have submitted feedback to the platform developers. If needed, please make notes/reminders for yourself specific to your own circumstances. The TAX INVOICE sent to you at time of subscription will have the anniversary date for your records

  • Registration and access to materials is for the named participant only - thank you for keeping our site secure and not sharing your login details with anyone. This includes not allowing another person to "sit in" or "watch along". This is a security and privacy issue as well; not just a commercial consideration to help us keep prices down by minimising ticket theft

  • Access is available to people with an active subscription to email communications from MAE Projects trading as all Specialised VET Services brands. Access to content during the stipulated time frames is the responsibility of the registrant

  • Skills Education reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime for breach of the Terms and Conditions or for any other reason determined by Skills Education at their sole discretion

  • Some content on this site is exclusive to Education Matters subscribers and will vary according to the subscription tier. Subscribers must be logged in to see the information

Information about our:

Live webinar sessions

  • Prices include GST and all other listed inclusions which may include handouts from the presenter but not necessarily inclusive of a copy of the presenter's intellectual property (IP) contained in the slideshow presentation.

  • Ticket sales are non-refundable and not transferable. If you cannot make the webinar on the day and time listed, you will be able to access the recording for the allocated timeframe.

  • Payment is due on registration.

  • Recordings of live sessions
  • Recordings from paid live events are made available for 30 days unless otherwise specified*. Access to the recording and other materials will end after this time. It is the responsibility of the attendee to view the recording during this time.

  • ‘Certificates’
  • It is the responsibility of the attendee to trigger their Record of Participation during the access timeframe. If the recording is not viewed within the access timeframe, the attendee can re-register for the session whereby payment will unlock the recording for the next 30 days, OR, consider an annual subscription to Education Matters PRO or Elite whereby access to session recordings is year-long**

  • Requests to re-issue a Record of Participation can be addressed, but will incur a $15 administration fee. Manual certificates will be issued in the original registrant's name once payment is received. More information about 'certificates' here.

  • Please ensure you enter your full name with correct spelling and capitalisation as this is how it will be entered on your Record of Participation. One registrant per ticket means one Record of Participation will be issued per registration. Do not share your login details as the fee to attend a live webinar is per one registrant. See the information about security and theft for more.

  • Please follow the advice to test your connection and Zoom access early as no email support can be provided for 30 minutes prior to, and for the duration of when a session is live.

  • In the event of interruption to internet service or power supply which causes a live session to fail, all session attendees will be able to access a recording of the session content. This may be a re-recording of the interrupted session or a recording made specifically to make up for the interrupted session. This will be at the discretion of Skills Education in conjunction with the presenter. Interruption to internet connectivity is outside the control of Skills Education and will not constitute grounds for a refund.

  • Your inability to access a live session because of personal and/or organisation IT settings will not constitute grounds for a refund.

  • On occasion, we can offer complimentary live sessions. These may be offered at no charge for registrants to the live session. A nominal fee is applied to these sessions post-event for future registrations to access the recording. This goes toward covering ongoing site and administration costs.

  • Trainer Chats are an example of a no-cost-to-register live session. These are offered at no charge for the live session only. Recordings are only available to Education Matters subscribers or by later, paid registration. When you attend the live event you will be asked to trigger your certificate before logging off from the session and missing your opportunity to do so. If you register but do not attend the live session, your registration will lapse, the course tile will disappear from your profile and you will not be able to trigger a certificate (because you will not have undertaken the PD).

* 30 days unless part of PD Library Pass, Education Matters PRO or Elite or unless otherwise stipulated and advertised on the event page

** Recordings from the current calendar year’s events are not added to PD Library Pass or PRO until the next calendar year

Pre-recorded sessions and modules

  • Prices include GST and any handouts that may have been provided by the presenter. Not every module will have a handout and not every presenter will issue a copy of their slides.

  • Registration fees are non-refundable and not transferable.

  • Pre-recorded on-demand sessions are available for 30 days unless otherwise stated*. Access to the recording and other course materials will end after this time. It is the responsibility of the attendee to view the recording during this time. It is the responsibility of the attendee to trigger their Record of Participation during this time.

  • In some cases, the Skills Education site will have products for sale whereby the IP is owned by the presenter. These sessions/products are posted with the express permission of the IP holder.

  • Do not share your login details as the fee to access a pre-recorded session is per one registrant.

Short courses

  • Prices include GST and access to materials to comprise the short course.

  • Registration fees are non-refundable and not transferable.

  • Access to the short course, its activities, recordings, and any supplied resources is for a set duration specific to the course and advertised on the registration page. Access will end after this time.

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to access the course, complete any desired activities and trigger their Record of Participation within the timeframe that the course is open to them.

  • Do not share your login details as the fee to access a short course is per one registrant.

Learning programs

  • Prices include GST and access for the nominated duration to any live sessions and materials to comprise the learning program

  • Registration fees are non-refundable and not transferable.

  • Access to the learning program, its activities, recordings, and any supplied resources is for a set duration specific to the course and advertised on the registration page. Access will end after this time.

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to access the program, complete any desired activities and trigger their Record of Participation within the timeframe that the course is open to them.

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to attend any included live events for the program - otherwise, where available, to access any session recordings.

  • In the case where a learning program offers a credential as part of the outcome, issuance of the credential is contingent upon successful completion of the set assessments for the program. Criteria for successful assessment completion is communicated in the program notes.

  • In some cases, a learning program may offer assessment and/or subsequent assessment rounds for a fee on top of the learning program.

  • Some learning programs are offered as bespoke corporate learning and development and are by invitation only.

  • Do not share your login details as the fee to access a learning program is per one registrant.

'Certificates'

  • The Skills Education website is set up to issue a Record of Participation once a course is 100% complete. In the rare case that a session is not eligible for a certificate, this will have been advertised.

  • Certificates are triggered by the participant via the participant dashboard and a historical record of all triggered certificates is kept in the dashboard for each active account. An active account will become inactive when a person unsubscribes from Specialised VET Services. More information about what happens when a person unsubscribes is here.

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to access the course, complete any desired activities and trigger their Record of Participation within the timeframe that the course is open to them.

  • If access has expired, registrants can opt to re-enrol in the course to re-activate access to the content.

  • Re-enrolment requires payment.Requests to issue a manual certificate will attract a $15 administration fee for each certificate.

  • As many people use certificates for compliance purposes and evidence of ongoing currency and PD, we will not issue a manual certificate in cases where course access has expired and: a) there is no proof of attendance to the live event and/or b) the participant dashboard shows no progress through the course.

  • We will not issue certificates for any person who 'watched along' as without registration they are not recognised as a Skills Education attendee.

Copyright and IP

  • By using the Skills Education site you must not - and you agree you will not - attempt to or actually: copy, download, transcribe, recreate and/or transmit any PD session, short course, learning program, Education Matters content or presenter-supplied materials in any format.

  • Ask us first if use of AI tools to take ‘meeting notes’ is allowable in our sessions.

Special offerings

  • Skills Education may, from time-to-time, offer events at no- or low-cost to registrants.

  • These events are subject to all other terms and conditions listed on this page and any specific conditions as set by Skills Education and noted on the event special offering page.

Group bookings

  • The Skills Education site allows group bookings whereby one person can purchase multiple tickets to the same PD. This works for learning programs, live webinar events and on-demand PD. It does not apply to subscription payments (e.g. Education Matters, RPL Matters) or to payment plans.

  • In the case where multiple tickets are purchased, the purchaser will be issued a tax invoice and will see an order thank you page with options to manage all additional seats. A link will be provided to enrol for themselves (if desired) and to copy and share the link with other intended participants.

  • If the purchaser does not take a seat for themselves, in the case where the tickets are for a live event, the automatic Zoom registration for the purchaser will be reversed.

  • The purchaser will be able to track how many invites have been redeemed and if necessary, purchase more seats.

  • All seats must be redeemed within 45 days of the purchase date.

  • It is the responsibility of the purchaser and their invitees to claim their registrations within the allocated timeframe - tickets will remain valid for redemption for 45 days from purchase before they expire and it will be considered that the tickets purchased were purchased but not used by the purchaser.

Communications from Skills Education about RPL Matters

RPL Matters communications are separate to our usual public emails (via MailChimp email client) and come from the Skills Education platform.

Please note, there is no 'unsubscribe' option to communications from the Skills Education platform as these are not considered marketing emails and all active registrants to RPL Matters will be listed as:

  • 'Enrolled',

  • In agreement with the use of the site

  • And therefore active on the comms list

Any RPL Matters updates will be directly relevant to your annual subscription benefits.

Skills Education pricing and session schedules

  • Prices may change at any time and we are able to action this without notice.

  • Skills Education reserves the right to, at any time, modify or discontinue any course, session or product without notice. In taking any of these actions, Skills Education shall not be liable to anyone.

  • Access to PD will only be made available for confirmed payments and access is granted for one person per ticket, whereby 'access' also includes recordings, subscriptions and any other paid content on this site.

  • Requests for payment will be issued in cases where it is identified any person/s other than the paid registrant have accessed the live and/or recorded content. If the payment is not made, the matter may be referred to our legal representatives for recovery

  • For sessions where payment is required to register:

    • 'Sitting in' or 'watching along' without having paid to register amounts to unfair use / theft - it is well-communicated that one registration is for one person - and we will not respond to requests for certificates or handouts or requests for post-session advice about the course content from people who have not paid to register. Pricing is calculated to cover platform and technology costs to offer sessions on a per-person basis. We appreciate honesty from our dealings with others and thank you for honouring the terms and conditions of ongoing use of this site and access to PD content.

  • In cases where Skills Education subsidises registration by offering complimentary events, free access is granted to the Skills Education dashboard and/or Zoom event registration to registrants who are active subscribers to our mail communications. Access to materials, recordings and Records of Participation for free events must be completed within the access period. After that, a registration fee will be required to access content. All details about access to all types of course content is well communicated at time of registration and after any live event.

  • Any discounted tickets must be used according to associated conditions which will include (but not be limited to) terms such as: one discount code per ticket, strict use according to terms and conditions under which the code has been issued, not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion, our right to revoke the code at any time and without notice.

  • In some cases, where approved, an invoice can be issued for registration of multiple attendees from one organisation. Once payment has been confirmed, enrollment and access to the session will be triggered.

  • For individuals wanting an invoice issued for company payment, we will accommodate where possible and at our discretion. We will not typically send an invoice as 'pay on invoice' for a single registration to a single event. In lieu of this, our suggestion is to purchase and seek reimbursement through your usual organisational channels.

The issue of theft

  • In order to keep prices competitive, we rely on honest dealings from all who access our services.

  • Registration fees are calculated to cover costs for one attendee/viewer per registration; including the underlying infrastructure that keeps Skills Education running.

  • Sharing a login, live session access and/or session recording might not seem like much, but it's effectively theft - it robs the presenter and our platform of the correct remuneration for goods and services accessed. It also poses a threat to the security of the Skills Education platform as if a breach were to occur, it's harder to trace impacted people when logins are not kept secure.

  • We already offer a number of live sessions where we subsidise the costs of the event and offer complimentary registration, but we can only continue this practice while other running expenses are met.

  • Help us to keep the Skills Education offering competitive by honoring the Terms and Conditions of use of this site. If you have multiple people wanting to register for a particular product, please talk to us about possible group discounts.

'Up-time'

The Skills Education website is built on the Thinkific platform. We have no control over system operations, scheduled maintenance and/or updates, and cannot [do not] guarantee any particular 'up-time' or level of uninterrupted service and thereby access to the site. Status updates from Thinkific can be viewed here.

Similarly, internet connectivity and/or electricity supply issues - including those of presenters in remote sites to Skills Education - are beyond the control and responsibility of Skills Education.

If these cause disruption we may - in good faith - arrange a replacement recording, but this is not guaranteed or promised. We accept no responsibility or liability for events outside of our control.

We keep a private database of all event attendees. Your personal information is collected so that:

  • We can contact you (if necessary) in relation to the event

  • Records of Participation can be issued

  • We can send your tax invoice and/or receipt of payment

  • We can alert you to other relevant PD events

  • We can send you exclusive invitations and other product notifications

Sector update and information emails are for the benefit of Skills Education customers - as registrants to live PD events and/or subscribers to Education Matters.

Access to the Skills Education website and its contents - including those offered via the Zoom platform as live webinars - is available to people with an active subscription to email communications from MAE Projects trading as all Specialised VET Services brands.

Anyone is free to unsubscribe at any time with the understanding that this means a discontinuation of:

  • Agreement for ongoing use of the Skills Education website

  • Email communications, including event information emails

If you decide to opt out of our marketing communication list, you signal withdrawal from the agreement for the use and access of this site under these terms and conditions, and your account will be removed.

If you opt out of emails from us:

  • You signal withdrawal of agreement for ongoing use of this site

  • You will no longer receive emails from us except if you have an active booking for an upcoming live webinar for which you have paid registration - you will continue to receive reminder emails about this event until it occurs, then your Skills Education profile will be deleted

People with an Education Matters annual subscription should refer to the additional terms specific to that product.

In accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 7 - Direct Marketing, MAE Projects does not use or disclose the personal information that it holds about an individual for the purpose of direct marketing, unless:

  • The personal information has been collected directly from an individual, and the individual would reasonably expect their personal information to be used for the purpose of direct marketing (APP 7.2)

MAE Projects, trading as Skills Education, may share personal information about an individual where a product or service association exists with a third party, and the individual is participating in that product or service (APP7.14). In all instances, individuals are given the option to 'opt out' of any direct marketing communications from MAE Projects, and MAE Projects will comply with that request.

Account Maintenance

Skills Education Dashboards

Users need to create an account to access Skills Education PD sessions. If an account registers no activity for a period of 45 consecutive days, Skills Education reserves the right to remove the account from its enrolments.

This will not impact communications from MAE Projects or its brands as Specialised VET Services.

When a user unsubscribes from communications from Specialised VET Services, this signals withdrawal from the agreement for the use and access of the site and the account dashboard will be deactivated. This means access to content in the dashboard, including historical certificates triggered, will no longer be available.

Communications Preferences

When an account registers zero engagement for a period of 3 months, the details will be archived and will no longer receive email communications from Specialised VET Services - until such time as another enrolment is processed.

We do not believe in spam-like direct marketing tactics. We prefer to keep our email list exclusive to Skills Education customers and will proactively manage communications to minimise ongoing costs.
