Terms and Conditions

The following information is important for all users of this site.

Please read the information as it relates to the terms and conditions of use - including ongoing use of this site.

By accessing and using the Skills Education website, you are taken to agree and accept our terms.

Registering for Skills Education PD (or having your organisation register you) means you opt in to our email communications. More about that here.

Skills Education offers a range of products:

This page sets out the Terms and Conditions under which access to these products and services is offered. Skills Education reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for breach of the Terms and Conditions or for any other reason determined by Skills Education at their sole discretion.

These Terms and Conditions have been updated 14.6.26 to reflect advances in technology and operating conditions.

Overarching notes and information

GST included

  • All values listed on the Skills Education website include GST

  • All Skills Education values are in Australian Dollars

NO AI bots and notetakers

  • No AI bot or notetaker will be admitted to Skills Education sessions. This is well communicated and it is the registrant’s responsibility to ensure they attend the live session rather than an AI

  • AI bots and notetakers will be removed if they enter the webinar and/or Zoom meeting room. Once removed, the person may not be able to rejoin. Skills Education is not liable to provide any recompense to anyone if a session is missed because of an AI bot being ejected

  • This policy is to preserve the privacy of attendees, integrity of the session, and IP of the presenter. It also ensures limited seats are not maxxed out due to AI notetakers preventing genuine ticket holders from entering the session

  • If you miss the live event, you can catch up on the recording where recording access is applicable

Artificial Intelligence and Derivative Use

  • No person may use any portion of the session, including recordings, transcripts, slides, or handouts, in whole or in part, to train or feed artificial intelligence systems, including generative models, machine learning applications, or knowledge bases, without Skills Education’s prior written consent.
  • This includes generating derivative works, summaries, blog posts, or internal content that mimics a Skills Education presenter’s materials, likeness, voice, or style.
  • No person may use the Presenter’s voice, image, or likeness in any format, real or synthetic, without explicit written permission.

Copyright and IP

  • By using the Skills Education site you must not – and you agree you will not – attempt to or actually: copy, download, transcribe, record, recreate and/or transmit any PD session, short course, learning program, membership content or presenter-supplied materials in any format

  • Not every presenter will issue a “copy of the slides”. We support presenters to deal with their intellectual property (IP) how they see fit

Non-refundable, non-transferable transactions

  • All ticket sales, registration and/or membership subscription fees are non-refundable and are not transferable

  • Signing up for a membership or subscription means you give authorisation for payments to be deducted from your credit card on each renewal. If you fail to cancel a membership payment before it is transacted, you will not be refunded (noting reminder emails are sent prior to each renewal). See more about membership payments here

  • If you cannot make a live webinar on the day and time listed, you will be able to access the recording for the allocated timeframe

  • Your inability to access a live session because of personal and/or organisation IT settings will not constitute grounds for a refund

Registering for a Skills Education webinar or PD program

What you need to know:

  • Payment is due on registration – access is granted after confirmed payment

  • Registration is for the named attendee only

  • Ensure you enter your full name with correct spelling and capitalisation as this is how the system will populate your Record of Participation

  • Ensure your email address is entered without error to receive the necessary links, emails and ability to sign in to your profile

  • After payment is received, you will be directed to the PD on your dashboard – this area has important information for pre-session preparations

Please follow the advice to test your connection and Zoom access early as no email support can be provided for 30 minutes prior to, and for the duration of when a session is live

  • You will receive a tax invoice via a separate email. Click the link in that invoice to view and download your invoice

  • Registration creates a profile for you on the Skills Education website, opts you in to our email communications and signals your permission for us to contact you via email – including to send Zoom session links. Anyone can opt out at any time; doing so means we must delete your profile. More on opting out of communications from us is here

  • The exception - TAE Trivia events: These sessions do not require a Skills Education profile – registration is directly onto the Zoom platform. Registrants for TAE Trivia will not receive our email updates

Ticket inclusions

Registration to a Skills Education PD session allows access to:

  • The session and associated materials for the named registrant. Sharing of login details is prohibited

  • All other listed inclusions which may include handouts from the presenter but not necessarily inclusive of a copy of the presenter's IP contained in the slideshow presentation

  • The recording and course content for the advertised duration (30 days for once-off registration up to 365 days for PD MAX tickets and memberships). Access to the materials will end after this time. It is the responsibility of the registrant to access materials including the recording and getting their certificate during their open window of access

  • In some cases, the Skills Education site will refer to products for sale whereby the IP is owned by the presenter. These sessions/products are posted with the express permission of the IP holder

Registration to a Learning Program hosted by Skills Education includes the following terms and inclusions:

  • GST

  • Access for the nominated duration to any live sessions and materials to comprise the learning program

  • Registration fees are non-refundable and not transferable

  • Access to the learning program, its activities, recordings, and any supplied resources for the set duration specific to the course and as advertised on the registration page. Access will end after this time

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to access the program, complete any desired activities and trigger their Record of Participation within the timeframe that the course is open to them

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to attend any included live events for the program - otherwise, where available, to access any session recordings

  • In the case where a learning program offers a credential as part of the outcome, issuance of the credential is contingent upon successful completion of the set assessments for the program. Criteria for successful assessment completion is communicated in the program notes

  • In some cases, a learning program may offer assessment and/or subsequent assessment rounds for a fee on top of the learning program

  • Some learning programs are offered as bespoke corporate learning and development and are by invitation only

  • The fee to access a learning program is per one registrant – sharing login details is prohibited

Membership payments

  • It is the registrant’s responsibility to monitor access times and/or membership subscription renewal dates

  • A subscription is a recurring payment. By taking out a membership, you authorise all recurring payments until the membership is cancelled. Payment reminder emails are sent from the Skills Education website in the lead up to your membership anniversary date. If you do not wish to renew your membership, on this reminder, please cancel your membership. We will not action requests to process refunds on memberships after payment has been processed

  • Membership subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Cancellations are to be actioned by the membership holder, not Skills Education

  • If an organisation pays for a staff member’s membership and the staff member leaves, it is the organisation’s responsibility to cancel the membership

Date formats

  • The Skills Education website is built on a platform that uses default (unchangeable by us) settings for the North American region. The date function on the site is set to mm/dd/yyyy - not dd/mm/yyyy as is used in Australia

  • This is important when viewing the billing area of your account as all renewal / expiry dates are in the 'US format'. For example, you will see the 12th of March written as 3.12.24 not 12.3.24

  • If needed, please make notes/reminders for yourself specific to your own circumstances. The TAX INVOICE sent to you at time of subscription will have the anniversary date for your records. And, as mentioned above, the site will send renewal reminder emails prior to payment being processed

Bookings for others and invoices

  • The Skills Education secure checkout allows purchase of registrations for others. This can be for one person or for a group booking

  • Buying for someone else: If you need to book and pay for a ticket for someone else (one person at a time), use the “it’s a gift” function at the checkout. This will supply a tax invoice to the person making the payment and give them a link to supply to the PD registrant to redeem

Group bookings

  • Group bookings: If you need to book and pay for multiple people to attend the same session, adjust the quantity at the checkout for as many tickets as needed. The person making the purchase will be issued a tax invoice and become a “seat manager”. Seat managers will send links to intended registrants and be able to monitor enrolments, seats remaining and participant activity. Skills Education is not responsible for supplying attendee data/analytics to organisations regarding staff engagement with PD. If this is requested, an administration fee of $35+GST will apply for each request

  • Group bookings are available for registration to learning programs, live webinar events and on-demand PD. It is not available for subscription payments (e.g. Education Matters, RPL Matters) or to payment plans.

  • Group booking registration links and/or gifted registrations must be redeemed within 45 days of date of purchase. After that time the ticket/s will be deemed expired and considered as a ticket that was purchased but not used. It is the purchaser and their invitees' responsibility to redeem registrations within the active time period of 45 days

What happens when you make a group booking?

  • The purchaser will be issued a tax invoice and will see an order thank you page with options to manage all additional seats. A link will be provided to enrol for themselves (if desired) and to copy and share the link with other intended participants. Ensure you enter the details you want to appear on the tax invoice

  • If the purchaser does not take a seat for themselves, in the case where the tickets are for a live event, the automatic Zoom registration for the purchaser will be reversed

  • The purchaser will be able to track how many invites have been redeemed and if necessary, purchase more seats

Invoices

  • Invoices: If an invoice is issued, it requires payment via direct deposit to our bank account. If you need to pay via corporate credit card, please use the secure checkout on our site

  • We will not typically issue an invoice for a single registration to a single event. In lieu of this, our suggestion is to purchase and seek reimbursement through your usual organisational channels

  • In some cases, where approved, an invoice can be issued for registration of multiple attendees from one organisation. Once payment has been confirmed, enrollment and access to the session will be set up manually. Each registrant will be opted in to Skills Education’s email communications and is taken to agree to the conditions for use of this site

  • Invoices cannot be paid by credit card

Access to PD materials

  • Access to materials depends on your ticket type – it ranges from:
    • Zero days for non-member, non-season ticket holder registration to a free event
    • 30 days for a single paid registration
    • Annual access – end of the calendar year for PD MAX ticket holders
    • Ongoing access for people with an active annual membership
  • Note that Learning Programs are not included in any membership or PD MAX ticket; these have a set duration advertised on the learning program page

  • Access is also dependent on maintaining “sign up” status for email communications from MAE Projects trading as all Specialised VET Services brands. If you decide to “opt out” from our email communications, we must delete your account and profile which means your access stops. See more about “opting out

  • Access to content during the stipulated time frames is the responsibility of the registrant

  • Some content on this site is exclusive to membership subscribers and will vary according to the membership and subscription tier. Subscribers must be logged in to their profile see the information

Special offerings

  • Skills Education may, from time-to-time, offer events at no- or low-cost to registrants

  • These events are subject to all other terms and conditions listed on this page and any specific conditions as set by Skills Education and noted on the event special offering page

  • Some “free” events are free for the live session only – meaning access to the recording is only available to members or by later, paid registration

  • Trainer Chats are an example of a no-cost-to-register live session. These are offered at no charge for the live session only. Recordings are only available to Education Matters members or by later, paid registration. When you attend the live Trainer Chat event, you will be asked to trigger your certificate before logging off from the session and missing your opportunity to do so. If you register but do not attend the live session, your registration will lapse, the course tile will disappear from your profile and you will not be able to trigger a certificate for free (because you will not have undertaken the PD)

PD MAX tickets

  • PD MAX tickets are a bundle purchase of all live public PD webinars and their recordings for the calendar year. This is a registration ticket, not a membership. PD MAX tickets are purchased with a one-off payment, not a subscription.
  • PD MAX is offered on an individual basis - meaning one ticket is required per person
  • Person/s breaching the PD MAX Honour Code will have their registration cancelled with all benefits forfeited. No refunds will be issued.
  • Inclusions are detailed on the PD MAX page for the year. Learning programs and members’ sessions are not included in PD MAX.
  • This is already a heavily discounted product – no further discounts are offered until the quantity of tickets is 51+. An automatic discount of 15% will apply at the secure online checkout for group orders of 51 tickets or more.
  • Early bird pricing may be offered for tickets in the lead up to the new calendar year. This is at the discretion of Skills Education.

'Certificates'

  • The Skills Education website is set up to issue a Record of Participation once a course is 100% complete. In the rare case that a session is not eligible for a certificate, this will have been advertised

  • Certificates are triggered by the participant via the participant dashboard. We cannot trigger a certificate for you. Instructions on how to get your certificate are contained within each course information section as well as at the link sent with every registration on “next steps

  • Certificates are only offered for bona fide PD participants. Our system is configured such that player controls will not be visible on first watch of a webinar replay. This helps ensure PD is undertaken before triggering a certificate, and offers reassurance to RTOs and VET regulators that a Skills Education record of participation supports compliance – indicating actual professional development has occurred

  • Attendees should trigger their certificate at the end of a live webinar to avoid having to rewatch the recording in its entirety before their certificate will appear

  • An historical record of all triggered certificates is kept in the dashboard for each active account. An active account will become inactive when a person unsubscribes from our communications. More information about what happens when a person unsubscribes is here

  • Some events (for example, Trainer Chats as free live events) require participants to trigger their certificate during the session. This is because registration to free events expires after the session and the course will disappear from dashboards unless the registrant is also an Education Matters member or holds a PD MAX ticket

  • It is the responsibility of the registrant to access the course, complete any desired activities and trigger their Record of Participation within the timeframe that the course is open to them

  • If access has expired, registrants can opt to re-enrol in the course to re-activate access to the content. Re-enrolment requires payment

  • Otherwise, requests to issue a manual certificate – with proof of PD completion – will attract a $35 administration fee for each certificate

  • As many people use certificates for compliance purposes and evidence of ongoing currency and PD, we will not issue a manual certificate in cases where course access has expired and:

a.       there is no proof of attendance to the live event and/or

b.       the participant dashboard shows no progress through the course.

  • We will not issue certificates for any person who 'watched along' as without registration, they are not recognised as a Skills Education attendee.

Fair use policy - Ticket theft

  • Registration and access to materials is for the named participant only

  • Thank you for keeping our site secure and not sharing your login details with anyone. It's well communicated that sharing logins, "watching along" and other types of ticket theft contravene expectations for honest dealings from all who access our services

  • Sharing a login, live session access and/or session recording might not seem like much, but it is theft. It also poses a threat to the security of the Skills Education platform as if a breach were to occur, it's harder to trace impacted people when logins have not been kept secure

  • If you have multiple people wanting to register for a particular product, please talk to us about possible group discounts

  • In order to keep prices competitive, we rely on honest dealings from all who access our services

  • Requests for payment will be issued in cases where it is identified any person/s other than the paid registrant have accessed the materials

  • We appreciate our audience for honoring the Terms and Conditions of use of this site

Interruptions to live events

  • In the event of interruption to internet service or power supply which causes a live session to fail, all session attendees will be able to access a recording of the session content. This may be a re-recording of the interrupted session or a recording made specifically to make up for the interrupted session. This will be at the discretion of Skills Education in conjunction with the presenter. Interruption to internet or power connectivity is outside the control of Skills Education and will not constitute grounds for a refund

Opting out of email communications

Sector update and information emails are for the benefit of Skills Education customers - as registrants to live PD events, annual ticket holders and/or as members.

Access to the Skills Education website and its contents – including those offered via the Zoom platform as live webinars – is available to people with an active OPT IN to email communications from MAE Projects trading as all Specialised VET Services brands.

We send communications via a mail client as well as via the Skills Education website. Mail client emails have an opt out option that anyone can select.

Email communication from our website is different. If you wish to opt out of those communications as well, please reply “OPT OUT” us so we can delete your profile on the Skills Education website.

IMPORTANT

All profiles receive communications – to cancel communications, we need to delete your profile. Which also means:

  • Any unused time in memberships will be forfeited

  • Any untaken PD will be forfeited

  • Opting out of communications from us also means we cannot email you the Zoom links to upcoming PD sessions, so these registrations will be cancelled and the PD forfeited

Anyone is free to unsubscribe at any time with the understanding that this means a discontinuation of:

  • Agreement for ongoing use of the Skills Education website

  • Email communications, including event information emails

If you decide to opt out of our marketing communication list, you signal withdrawal from the agreement for the use and access of this site under these terms and conditions, and your account will be removed.

IMPORTANT

For clarity, if you opt out of emails from us:

  • You signal withdrawal of agreement for ongoing use of this site

  • You signal the necessary action to remove your profile and all implications tied to that are warranted in order to cease communications from us; and you agree to this

  • You will no longer receive emails from us including for any bookings for any upcoming live webinar for which you have paid registration

  • Registrations to free events will be cancelled as you will have unsubscribed to use of, and access to, this site

  • We will delete your Skills Education profile - access to dashboard profiles, records of certificates issued and underlying PD will be deleted - you agree you will forfeit unused time in memberships and/or any untaken PD

Once a profile is deleted, the action cannot be undone.

Self or organisation-initiated registration

Note that if you had previously opted out of emails from us but never registered for Skills Education PD, when you register for a PD event, your details will be switched to ‘subscribed’ status and you will receive email communications.

If you previously registered for Skills Education PD, opted out of communications, but then re-register for Skills Education PD, your details will be switched to ‘subscribed’ status and you will receive email communications.
