Want ideas for keeping online students engaged?

Trainers and assessors are often required to deliver content they haven’t designed, and making that content engaging, especially online, can be a real challenge.

This session introduces practical strategies and digital tools that bring static content to life, helping learners stay active, connected, and engaged.

You'll explore platforms like Padlet, Mentimeter, and Miro, and see how they can be used to encourage participation, structure group activities, and create meaningful peer-to-peer interaction.

You’ll leave with simple, adaptable techniques to increase engagement, without needing to redesign the unit or rewrite the content.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify a range of digital collaboration tools suited to RTO delivery (e.g. Padlet, Miro, Google Suite, Mentimeter, Slido, Teams and Zoom)
  • Match tools to delivery modes and learner needs
  • Design structured group activities with clear roles and outcomes
  • Facilitate learner interaction that supports engagement and retention
  • Apply quick-win strategies to enhance participation using existing content

Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the "Quick Guide to Collaboration Tools":

  • A simple reference outlining the tools used in the session, with tips for how and when to use them effectively in training. Includes brief descriptions, use cases, and links to helpful tutorials and templates.
