Make GREAT things happen - Challenge and excite EVERY student!

The goal of any great educator is to help all students learn - not just those who fit neatly into what some describe as the 'typical' or 'average' student. Teaching to the ‘average’ VET student in a class, aka ‘teaching to the middle of the room’, leaves students with additional needs, and those who need to be challenged more, poorly catered for.

It's a funny title but 100% serious business: 'Stop teaching to the middle of the room!' is a session for all VET educators who want to align their practice to the needs of modern learners, and want to draw on research-backed areas of educational, psychological and neurological sciences.

Join this session for more on:

  • Why VET educators need to move toward more diversity-focused teaching approaches

  • Ways VET educators can use the science of human behaviour and learning to engage and connect more with their VET students

  • How to convert existing knowledge about the ways humans learn and why they behave in certain ways, into effective learning and teaching strategies which support more students with more diverse needs

  • Benefits of leaning into the ‘flat zones’ of the student ‘bell-curve’ to better meet the needs of ALL students and move away from teaching to the middle of the room

Registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the Guide to stop teaching to the middle of the room’.
