Australia’s classrooms are multilingual, multicultural, and multi-storied

This presentation explores how to design LLN support that is both culturally safe and in alignment with best practice.

It will share frameworks for working with Indigenous and CALD learners, balancing respect for cultural identity with effective skill development.

Participants will explore practical strategies; from inclusive communication to co-created learning artefacts, that make cultural responsiveness a daily practice, not a policy statement.

Leave this session with a tips-sheet outlining cultural and communication considerations when supporting LLN in diverse communities.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify principles of cultural safety in LLN contexts
  • Adapt teaching and assessment strategies for Indigenous and CALD learners
  • Implement inclusive communication methods that respect cultural diversity
