Looking for ways to help struggling students?

Often students come into vocational education and training with little, to no, idea about the theoretical requirements of courses - or how to address them. When this happens, students can struggle to provide appropriate responses to assessment tasks, and may end up totally demotivated and stall in their progress.

As educators we have a golden opportunity to influence our students and offer them a much-needed helping hand by upskilling them to know exactly what is required and how to respond.

Using the theories of adult learning and psychological safety as a basis, this session explores some of the common challenges students may face in their VET study - and what we can do to assist.

Join to hear about:

  • What most students need for their course, but may never have been taught

  • How you, as a trainer/assessor, can fill this gap

  • Explicitly upskilling students in the core skill of learning

  • The benefits of understanding the 'hidden curriculum'

  • How all of the above can influence student participation and progression rates
