Unpack the requirements to train and assess others and how to document these in your matrix.

What competencies must you have? What must you hold? What’s the difference between having and holding a competency and where does demonstrating equivalence come into it?

All of these questions are answered in this session which looks at the requirements for the Trainer/Assessor - and how an individual’s credentials can be used to complete the Matrix; the profile which details each instance of delivery for an RTO and how the individual meets those requirements.

Particular focus is given to the issues of competency, currency and equivalence, including the difference between ‘demonstrating equivalence’ and ‘equivalent units’. Examples of how industry practices can impact trainer/assessor currency are given, as are tips for different pieces of evidence that might be used in a Matrix.

Watch this session for clarification on the following main issues:

  • What must be held to be a trainer/assessor
  • How to prove industry knowledge and expertise (and currency)
  • Why currency and 'ways of doing things' is so important
  • Maintaining compliance requirements
