Valid evidence of performance is a typical major problem at audit

VET is built on skills for a vocation so it makes sense that VET assessment must determine competency based on knowledge as well as ability to perform required tasks, that is, to demonstrate performance required for safe, effective workplace completion of jobs.

Join this session to see the do’s and don’t’s of performance evidence assessments. We’ll look at:

  • Principles of robust, reliable performance instruments in VET assessment tools

  • What makes an instrument invalid as a means to collect evidence of performance

  • Factors that undermine the compliance of the tool

  • Understanding how to assess various performance requirements, including Foundation Skills

  • Common errors in PE assessment design - and how to avoid them

The Assessment Tool Design Master Class series draws on Michelle’s extensive experience as a VET assessment development and pre-use validation expert. The same expertise called on by some of VET's biggest providers to support quality in their own operations.

Pitched at intermediate level to support people who develop and/or validate assessment tools, the series brings us six (6) sessions about the do’s and don’ts of vital components:

  1. Assessment mapping document

  2. Assessment marking guide design

  3. Observation checklists

  4. Knowledge evidence assessment

  5. Performance evidence assessment (including Foundation Skills)

  6. Instruments to allow evidence collected by other parties for assessor judgement

Each session will run for approximately 45-60 minutes including audience Q&A
