A 'sit down with' is Skills Education's showcase of talent, opinions and happenings within education and the VET sector.

Every so often we'll take the opportunity to have a sit down with someone doing interesting things and we'll share the discussion and insights with our community.

With the ongoing surge in digital learning and online and blended delivery, the development of explainer videos and online learning modules continues to be a key component for learning experience designers.

In our latest 'sit down with', we took the opportunity of speaking with Australian voice over artist, Sarah Kennedy. Sarah has over 20 years' experience as a voice over artist in Australia and on the global stage, and has provided audio for online learning, e-books, video games, corporate messaging and more.

As an expert in her field, we were delighted to hear from Sarah about how to take the first steps in sourcing quality voice over talent, plus, about some of the specialist tools and techniques of the trade.

We especially like the range of voices displayed in the 'video game' audio sample on Sarah's site

Recently, we sat down with Deb Carr - a VET practitioner from Australia who has a keen interest in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and based her Master's thesis on a study of RPL candidates and their experiences with the processes via Australian Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). Deb is currently working on the international stage and one of her contracts out of Saudi Arabia is with Palladium (AusAid). The outcomes of this project will have impact across 9 countries!

We first crossed paths with Deb in early 2020 when Skills Education hosted her 10-part series on "How to do RPL better - If I were an RTO I would...". We've stayed in contact with Deb and were pleased to catch up with her in August 2022.
