This session is Part 1 of 2 about "The neurodivergent adult learner in VET":

More adults than ever are having a 'lightbulb moment' about ADHD, autism or a learning disability – sometimes right in the middle of their course. Are you ready to support them?

This session walks trainers and assessors through the identification pathway, the emotional reality of a late diagnosis, and where your role starts and stops.

Leave with strategies you can use straight away to support learners who are undiagnosed or newly diagnosed.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand late diagnosis and self-diagnosis of ADHD, autism and learning disabilities in adults
  • Clarify the scope and limits of the trainer and assessor's role
  • Support undiagnosed and newly diagnosed learners in an appropriate way

This session addresses the identification pathway, the emotional experience of late diagnosis, the practitioner's role (and its limits), and immediate strategies for supporting learners in this space.
