This session is about:

A deep dive into feedback design for low-LLN learners - how to give feedback that strengthens confidence, activates metacognition, and avoids the shame spiral common in adult literacy settings.

Feedback can light a learner up – or shut them down for good. For adults who've struggled with literacy, one poorly pitched comment can trigger shame and disengagement.

This session revisits feedback best practice (yes, including the trusty sandwich) and shows you how to give written, oral and multimodal feedback that builds confidence, sparks reflection and turns feedback into a two-way conversation learners actually act on.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Give feedback that builds learner confidence from a strengths-based perspective
  • Use written, oral and multimodal feedback approaches, and adapting as per students needed
  • Help learners act on feedback, applying it beyond the learning environment
