Are you building skills for today and tomorrow?

When generative artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT was released in late 2022, people likened its use in education to the introduction of the calculator to classrooms.

We now know that this comparison falls way short of truly capturing the seismic shift in required skills and knowledge that technology is bringing to learning and work. In fact, a report by DELL Technologies highlighted the following:

  • It is predicted that 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2023 haven’t been invented yet
  • More than half of business leaders think learning “how to learn” rather than “what to learn” is critical preparation for the future

Not just as preparation for five years’ time, more than ever, people must learn critical thinking and information analysis skills. We can no longer believe what we hear, or trust as fact what we see with our own eyes.

The world right now can be confusing, it can be overwhelming; but it is also an incredibly exciting time to be alive.

This 75 minute session lays the foundation for developing in our students, skills for adaptability, resilience, and a capacity for lifelong learning.

We will:

  • Unpack the role of mindset when seeking to define and understand resilience
  • Discuss simple strategies that can be shared with students to build their own resilience
  • Explore the roles of critical thinking, problem-solving and information literacy in a modern learning environment, and how we can foster each in our students – supporting them to successfully navigate the complexities of the modern world
