AI tools to support learning

This session acknowledges the disruption caused by generative AI (GenAI) and turns our focus to legitimate use of AI in the ‘classroom’.
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI tools such as ChatGPT over the last couple of years has necessitated a shift in educator thinking. Fields in education, and learning and development have experienced upheaval as people experiment with, and uncover, the vast capabilities of AI. And, let’s face it, students are likely at the forefront of this experimentation for learning!
This session acknowledges all of the above. Technology can assist learning in myriad ways, including by driving innovative practice and personalised learning experiences. It’s time to shift the outdated paradigm of ‘use of AI = cheating = should be banned’ and embrace the efficiencies AI can bring to the learning process for students.
