Managing student expectations is a two-way process (and is expected by Gen Z/A learners!)

Co-constructing class expectations (which align to the Student Code of Conduct) creates a more inclusive and supportive learning environment as it allows the educator and their students to determine which of the educator’s expectations are realistic based on the students’ needs.

These co-constructed expectations then allow the educator to align their course structure, materials and support based on on-going student feedback.

This requires the educator to consider support mechanisms which allow learners to manage the completion of their assessment, and encourage students to work together in a team-like environment to enable success for all students.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to

  • Discuss the benefits of creating ‘two-way communication’ processes to support learner success
  • Identify different digital tools to support these ‘two-way communication’
  • Share strategies for co-constructing a ‘level playing field’ for all learners to be successful
  • Adopt strategies to support their learners be successful through two-way communication strategies
