AI Changes the Content. What Happens to Learning Design?
Thursday 18 March 2027 | 11am AEST | Presented by Wendy Palmer
AI can now generate explanations, summaries, examples, presentations, images and responses in seconds. The challenge for educators is no longer simply how to use these tools. It is understanding what readily available AI-generated content means for how we design learning.
If learners can ask AI for an explanation, generate a response to a question or produce a first draft almost instantly, we need to think differently about the role of content, the activities we ask learners to complete, how we assess learning, and where the trainer adds the greatest value.
This session explores how learning design can respond to this changing environment. Rather than focusing on particular AI tools, we’ll consider where AI changes the learning experience and where human interaction, judgement, practice, feedback and authentic application become even more important.
Through practical examples, you’ll explore ways to rethink familiar learning activities and assessments, set appropriate expectations for AI use, including ethical use and declaration, and consider the changing role of the trainer. We’ll also look at the capabilities learners increasingly need to work effectively, critically and responsibly alongside AI.
