Now finished. Email [email protected] to register interest for future workshops
Let’s do it! Let's start building an assessment tool!
In this special 2.5 hour session, participants will work through the requirements to write an assessment tool. With session facilitator Michelle Charlton, registrants will learn about:
Unpacking and analysing the unit of competency including:
Identifying overarching context and application
Determining the types of tasks that will need to be included in the assessment
Confirming design according to assessment methodology
Designing instruments to suit evidence collection methods
Writing benchmarks with inbuilt reliability factors
Creating observation checklists with benchmarks to guide assessors on what will constitute satisfactory performance
During the session, we will discuss inclusion of design elements that will promote development of a valid, reliable assessment tool such as:
Judgement fields
Instructions to users
Guidelines for making an evaluation of evidence presented
Step-by-step we’ll commence development of the tool and by the end of the workshop, we will have started:
An assessment outline
Knowledge questions and benchmarks
Instruments to gather performance evidence, including foundation skill requirements
Participants will be supplied with a mapping template for the unit and a basic assessment framework (approx. $100 value).
We will be working on the unit of competency
BSBTEC201 Use business software applications R1
This unit is listed in 11 Training Packages, 33 Qualifications, 7 Accredited Courses, and has been deliberately chosen for its high potential for contextualisation according to industry and workplace requirements.
This special online workshop will assume some experience and/or knowledge of the fundamentals in assessment design and development. As underpinning theory, all learning outcomes can be applied to assessments for units from any AQF level.
All attendees will receive a copy of the materials created during the session and will have the option to purchase a high-level review of their own progress for up to six weeks post live session.
This session will be more than a ‘talk about’ or ‘explain how’ - this is a step-by-step “let’s do it!”
Intake numbers for this event are small to ensure every participant has the chance for interaction and questions.
